QUESTION: What is the most important thing to know before you return the fingerprint impression?
ANSWER: You need to make sure you like it the way it looks before you return it.
· We cast exactly what you send us.
· Because the fingerprints are so delicate, we don’t do anything to the prints at all.
· The only changes we make, very carefully, are to the edges and the back. We try to smooth them and fill in any gaps
HOW DO I MAKE LIVE, IN PERSON FINGERPRINT IMPRESSIONS INTO JEWELLERY?
1. Warm up blank.
2. Press clean finger into blank.
3. Wrap up carefully for transportation.
4. Return it to us.
WHAT'S THE BEST WAY TO GET A GOOD FINGERPRINT IMPRESSION?
1. Warm up blank enough so it is pliable, not hard.
2. Press hard enough to make a dent.
3. Press the flat surface of the finger, not the tip.
If it does not seem warm enough, make it warmer. Use a hairdryer on low or a space heater. Just don’t melt it into liquid as you may lose some material.
WHAT IF I DON'T LIKE THE IMPRESSION?
· Don’t like it? Roll it up into a ball, then flatten it out into a disc. Press into it again.
· You can do this as many times as needed, just try not to create any air bubbles as they might show up during the casting process.
WHAT IF I WANT A DIFFERENT SHAPE?
· Feel free to make it any shape you like! Ovals, Squares, and Heart shapes are possible. Shape first, flatten a bit, make sure it’s warm, then press.
· Press the finger in firmly, use your other hand to press the finger down if needed.
· Make sure you make an actual dent in the blank. If the fingerprint is light, at least there should be an impression of the shape of the finger.
HOW CAN I TELL IF I GOT A GOOD ENOUGH FINGERPRINT FOR THE JEWELLERY?
· Let it cool an hour or put it in the freezer for 10 minutes.
· Then, look at the piece under very bright light. Rotate it in different directions to see if there is a visible print or any lines.
· The best way to see if the print looks good is to take a video of it, in bright light and sharp focus. Move the piece around at record at different angles.
· Then look at the video and blow it up to see what the lines look like. It is VERY hard to see lines in the impression. It becomes much easier to see them on video, and once they are in metal.

· The visible lines become much more visible once they are cast into metal. The lines themselves don’t change, and we don’t enhance them in any way, other than casting them in metal, and doing a final gentle polish on them.

WHAT WE DO ONCE WE GET IT
· We cast it into metal.
· We clean up the edges and back,
· We fill any gaps in the edges and back if it is possible without damaging the print
· We don’t fill or change anything on the fingerprint itself as it can be easily ruined.
WHAT WE DON’T DO ONCE WE GET IT
· We will not radically change the shape,
· We cannot improve your fingerprint.
· We don’t recreate the fingerprint
· We don’t take the fingerprint and put it on something else.
PACKAGING THE FINISHED IMPRESSION
· Please make sure you package the return piece gently.
· It needs to be safely returned in the plastic container it came in, or something similar.
· Do not wrap it tightly in the tissue
· Do not press or squeeze it into the baggie
· Do not press or squeeze it into the container.

For this reason, we assume that once you send us the piece, you are happy with it, and we will proceed.

CAN YOU MAKE FINGERPRINT JEWELLERY FROM A BABY’S FINGERPRINT?
Baby fingerprints don't develop until 9 months or more, so make sure you get a deep impression instead of going for the lines of a print.
For babies and very young children, fingerprints are naturally shallower and still developing, so the level of detail can vary.
We always recommend trying to capture the first crease where the finger bends, as this can help create a stronger impression.
Even if the fine lines of the print are faint, you will still have a true imprint of your child’s finger, capturing the size and shape of the finger itself at a moment in time.

These are made to order one of a kind pieces, and so these are a final sale. However, if you want to try again, you can purchase a new kit and we can re-use your gold and make a new piece for a $100 re-make fee.
HOW LONG DOES THE KIT LAST?
The kit never expires.
IS THERE A DEADLINE FOR RETURNING THE IMPRESSION?
No, but due to the fluctuation in metal prices, we can only hold the original purchase price for 90 days from the time of purchase. If you return the piece after that time, we will go with the current listed price online and your purchase price will be credited toward the most current price.
WHAT IF I ONLY HAVE A FINGERPRINT IMAGE AND WE CAN’T MAKE AN IMPRESSION IN PERSON?
