OUR CONCEPT
The Luxe Design MAKE IT YOUR OWN line of jewelry lets you create your own personalized, meaningful jewelry by adding words, names or personal sayings to our unique selection of customizable charms. You can then select your own ideal length and style of chain, choose from our meaningful and symbolic charms, and add color with our gemstone beads.
This line has been developed over the years in response to our customer’s desires. First, we had many requests for our charms to be available separately. Then, people began asking to put their own words and names on the jewelry. We responded and since then, our line has been a co-creative process with our customers. This was a natural transition for us. As we are both designers, we have been creating jewelry together and inspired by each other’s designs since the inception of our business. Our perspective and aesthetic combined with the meaningful stories and desires of our customers has resulted in the unique look and feel of Luxe Design jewelry. We love to see the unique combinations that our customers put together, their heartfelt, sometimes kooky, funny or tragic sayings, and their interesting suggestions for new charms and shapes. It keeps our experience fresh and our jewellery line constantly evolving. We are grateful for them & couldn’t do it without them!
OUR JEWELRY
Most of our line is comprised of sterling silver but we do have 14 Karat Gold Coated Charms, as well as solid 14 Karat Gold. All of our sterling silver pieces are priced according to weight and labor. Thicker pieces cost more, thinner pieces cost less. They vary in thickness between 0.5mm & 2.5mm. Our pieces have evolved over time, some have been in our line since we started! So, there is a bit of variation in all of our hand made charms. Measurements are metric and Length includes the solid ring at the top, width is measured at the widest part.
All of our customized jewelry is stamped and then smoothed out by sanding and filing and polishing. We then blacken them and finally give the piece a satin or matte finish. This finish brings out the detail of the words in the best way. All of the rest of our silver jewelry is also finished in this way. This is part of our signature look. We can make things shiny, by special request, but we think the matte finish on silver is the way our jewelry looks best.
THE DESIGNERS
Joanne Hart and Andrea Mueller are the two inventive minds behind Luxe Design. Based out of Vancouver, they met while students in the Jewellery Art and Design program at Vancouver Community College. Upon graduation, the pair started Luxe Design in August of 1995. Before studying jewelry design, Joanne completed a degree in sculpture at the University of Calgary, while Andrea attended the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design.
Luxe jewelry ranges from charming to sophisticated, mixing Sterling Silver & 14 Karat Yellow Gold with an array of gemstone beads, pearls, antique finishes, leather and handmade chain. Exquisite touches like original findings finish off designs inspired by art, nature, travel, history & urban living. The line is divided into two main categories: Modern Jewelry and Words & Charms. The sleek modern line is wearable everyday and is an easy compliment to any wardrobe. It reflects the fashion trends and colors of the moment. The Words and Charms collection has a more expressive bent. Many of the most popular designs have inspirational sayings that the wearer connects to personally. Mixing and matching the charms, gemstone beads, and meaningful words allows the wearer their own unique expression.
The line incorporates the highest quality findings, metals and stones. These elements, combined with their technical skills and artistic backgrounds, makes the high quality Luxe Design line of jewelry stylish, interesting, personal, and wearable. Their line can now be found in finer boutiques, galleries, catalogs and department stores. Each piece is hand stamped and assembled to order in their studio in the heart of Vancouver BC, CANADA.
